Vessel: Architectural PotteryThe case study houses were experiments in American residential architecture sponsored by "Arts and Architecture" magazine which commissioned major architects of the 1950's to design and build inexpensive and efficient model homes for the US residential house boom at the end of World War II. The garden ceramic was reinvented which keyed a flourishing art pottery industry; Californian art students being encouraged to design pieces which were functional both in and outside the home. These bold geometric forms became design trademarks of "Vessel" Architectural Pottery and were prominently featured in "Art and Architecture" magazines now famous Case Study program. Embraced by design aficionados, The Architectural Pottery Collection™ was a favourite of prominent mid-century Los Angeles architects such as Richard Neutra and Pierre Koenig and was featured in many of Julius Schulman's famed photographs of Southern California architecture.Come and see a piece of Architectural history; Vessel Architectural Pottery now available to purchase at DesignFARM. |
